Detailed Description

Machine Manual

Turn your creations into masterpieces with the reliable and dependable HZL-DX7! The HZL-DX7 comes equipped with 287 stitch patterns and free motion capabilities to give you the freedom to create and design. It can be used to make even and consistent straight stitches, great zigzag stitching, and beautiful free-motion quilting.

For beautifully even stitches, the Juki “box feed” is integrated into this machine, ensuring consistent and even fabric feeding. The HZL-DX7 handles thicker fabrics and layers beautifully thanks to this unique feeding system and can stitch through any type of fabric whether lightweight, heavyweight, or stretch. If you would like your quilts to come out beautifully without any stitch pulling, just set the Juki HZL-DX7 to sew with the presser foot lifted and floating ever so slightly at a setting of your choice. Button holes are created with ease through the sensor buttonholing system that Juki uses. There are 16 choices of buttonholes types so you can choose which one best suits your project.

With the Juki HZL-DX7, you can select patterns and stitches with the touch panel and choose from 80 stitches including alphabetical/numerical fonts! There are buttons that are easy and quick to select that control the machine, including reverse or lock stitch, thread trim, needle up or down, start or stop, and auto-lift presser foot. You can also assign a function to the foot switch/pedal’s heel portion for easy access. Sewing speed on the Juki HZL-DX7 can be adjusted to a maximum of 1050 stitches made in a minute. For ease of use, if you need to sew on tight corners or be particularly precise with your stitches, you can use the low-speed or inching sewing function. Your stitches can also be adjusted in length or width with the easy adjustment dial.

Main Features
Box feed
Juki industrial sewing machine technology - The Juki industrial "BOX Feed" system has been brought to the home sewing machine. Our BOX Feed allows you to create perfect high-quality stitches on all types of fabrics. The BOX Feed system stays in contact with your fabrics longer for a consistent, reliable seam every time.

Evenly sews thick fabrics effortlessly
Even thick materials like denim folded into multiple layers!

Stitching thin or fine fabrics
No fabric shrinkage, even sewing on lightweight cotton.

Evenly feeds hard-to-sew high pile fabrics
Stitch towels and other high-pile fabrics.

Float function prevents uneven seams
By pressing the float button, you can sew with the presser foot slightly raised. Raising the presser foot to float allows you to sew fabrics without pushing layers or creating uneven seams.

Sew with the presser foot slightly floated
The height of the presser foot can be set in increments of 0.1 mm, allowing delicate adjustment according to the materials.

Not using the float function
Pressure on layers creates uneven seams.

Easily create and enjoy beautiful buttonholes with Juki's combination of industrial background and modern technology
Use the buttonhole sensor system for optimal feed on all types of fabric. You will love the one step buttonhole as it measures and evenly sews on both the right and left sides. Automatically works in optimum order for a perfectly finished buttonhole.

Clamping plate
The buttonhole-sewing presser foot contains a clamping plate, so you can confidently feed fabrics by holding them between the clamping plate and the presser foot.

16 types of buttonhole
A wide variety of buttonholes are available for your needs.

Cutting width adjustment of the buttonhole
It is even possible to adjust the cutting width in 3 easy steps.

Foot switch function
Allowing for greater versatility, Juki now offers assigned foot control options. With the ability to assign function to the heel side of the foot controller you can now lift the presser foot, trim threads, reverse stitch or single stitch by pressing on the heel side of the foot controller.

Optional presser foot pivot function
When you stop sewing, the needle stops in the down position and presser foot automatically lifts to allow for fabric movement. Sew corners or pivot with ease, and when you resume sewing the presser foot automatically lowers for continuous smooth sewing. You can also activate the option for the presser foot to automatically lift after thread trimming, which allows quick removal of fabrics.

Adjustable starting/reverse stitch speed
You can adjust the starting and reverse stitch speed between three levels: fast, normal, and slow.

Lock stitch
For the lock stitch at the start and the end of sewing, you can choose two kinds: "Reverse stitch" and "Lock stitch". If you press the lock stitch button in the middle of sewing a pattern, the machine stops after sewing one cycle of the pattern.

Low-speed Inching sewing
By pressing and holding the needle up/down button, you can sew slowly. Sew corners, stop, and start with precision.

Automatic needle threader
Simply place the thread in the guide and lower the lever. Easily and quickly thread a needle with one hand.

Elongation pattern
Change the overall length without changing the sewing density of the pattern.

Stitch adjustment dial
Use the easy-to-operate dial to adjust the width and length of the stitch. The dial also lets you make slight adjustments while sewing zig zag stitches.

Free motion
Flip the switch and drop your feed dogs. Enjoy both straight stitch and specialized zig zag for free motion. Adjust the presser foot height for easy movement. Enjoy the freedom of free motion.

Direct stitch pattern selection
Often-used sewing patterns such as straight lines, overcast stitches, and zigzag patterns can be quickly selected via direct buttons. You can also adjust the sensitivity of the touch panel.

One-point patterns
The decorative patterns can be sewn as one point patterns. It is also lovely to create an original tag by combining these patterns with the character stitches.

Character stitch
The 80 included stitch patterns contain three alphabetic/numeric fonts. Up to ten often-used patterns such as names and initials can be saved in the memory.

Corner sewing of applique
The stitch width of the needle can be set to automatically and gradually change to achieve a stitch that gives a beautiful finish even to the corner of an applique or the start / end of a line of sewing. By adjusting the width and length, you can also control the angles of your design.

Lace-like patterns
Sewing several patterns in parallel creates lovely lace-like stitches. You can enjoy the combination of patterns that give the image of dedicated lace braid.

Straight stitch slide plate
Simply slide the front lever to switch to a single needle hole! Sew the lightest fabrics with perfect needle permeation. The single needle plate will not allow fabrics to be pushed into the needle hole. Sew with confidence. When the single needle hole plate is set, only the straight stitch patterns can be selected.

Exceeds expectations

I am an experienced sewist and own a couple of other high end machines. However the Juki HZL DX 7 is comparable to them. It has all the bells and whistles. It is silent and smooth but be sure to read the manual!

LOVE This Machine

Let me start by saying that the Juki DX7 is one of 5 sewing machines that I currently own. It is by far my favorite at the moment. There were two reasons I decided to purchase this machine. The first was that my Janome could not sew through thick layers of fabric (like jean seams) and can't zig-zag without a multitude of problems. My old Singer can do the zig-zag with no problems, but the Janome was better for quilting. I didn't want to have to keep setting up the Singer just to do zig-zag stitching, and the throat on both the Singer and the Janome just wasn't as big as I would like when quilting. The Juki DX7 has been a dream to use with everything I have thrown at it so far. I have a lot to learn about using it, but two of the things I am absolutely thrilled with is the knee lift and the ability to program the foot pedal to do other things beside start to sew. It comes programmed with the back of the pedal being able to reverse the direction when sewing leaving your hands free. This is such a treat for me. I hated having to push the button and hold it when I needed to reverse direction on the Janome. I also love that the bobbin winder has a separate motor so you can wind a bobbin without having to unthread and rethread the machine. There are a ton of things that I haven't even had a chance to try yet. And did I mention the wide table insert? Fantastic!Shipping was super fast and the machine arrived in perfect shape. Juki really packs it well.

Performance

This is the first midrange sewing machine I've ever had and love it.

Love this machine!!

This is not a lightweight machine, but not overly heavy, either. I like that it’s heavy enough not to slide while sewing. It’s a quality machine that does an edge stitch as well as a server without needing a separate machine. It’s easy to work and has lots of extras. I love the table addition and bar to lift the presser foot with your knee. Lots of cool features. A great choice for me. I do alterations for people and it’s perfect for that!

Can sew 7 layers of vinyl

I tried to sew 7 layers of vinyl. I did no adjustment and it was easily able to do it. I am in heaven. I love it so much.
