Machine Manual

The Juki MCS 1500 is a great machine capable of both cover stitch and chain stitch in one machine at a great affordable price. It features 4 threads, 3 thread (wide), and 3 thread (narrow) cover stitches which are great for hems, necklines, cuffs of sleeves, and more. The MCS-1500 is the ideal partner that gives a professional finish to your textiles and garments.

The stitches also stretch, meaning you can use this machine for stretchable fabrics. The chain stitch is great for decorative stitching, but also serves a purpose because it is quite strong, it’s great for waistbands and the side seams of pants as well.  The extension plate has guidelines to make it easier for you to manage your seams, while the presser foot also comes with a guide to use. There is an external thread cutter as well to make things even easier for you. The differential feed is adjustable with a single dial to make it easier to sew different fabrics.

Main Features

Super Easy Looper Threading
The lower looper threader disengages for fast, easy looper threading, in seconds. Just slide the thread into the slot and snap the looper into place.

Differential Feed Adjustment
Adjust the differential feed to sew beautiful finishes. This includes stretch fabrics, such as, knits and georgette.

Extension Plate with Seam Guidelines
The seam guidelines on the extension plate are a useful aid for sewing.

Adjustable Presser Foot Pressure
Presser foot pressure can be increased or decreased by turning the knob.

Selectable Stitch Width
Either stitch with 2.5mm or 5mm.

Easy Stitch Length Adjustments
Change the stitch length for specialty thread or overlock techniques using the conveniently located dial.

Front Foot Lift
The presser foot is higher on its tip to allow the fabric to easily be inserted at the start of sewing. In addition, raising the foot lifter allows for 8mm and 10mm of space to easily insert even thick layer of fabric.

Exterior Thread Cutter
The knife system on the MCS-1500 operates with a dedicated drive to assure consistent and smooth cutting for both light and heavy weight fabrics, so all fabric edges can be trimmed safely and professionally.

Extension Plate with Seam Guideline
The seam guidelines on the extension plate are a useful aid while sewing.

A presser foot equipped with a guide that presses down on both the left and right sides is provided as a standard accessory.

Stitches great on knits

The stitching looks professional. I've only tried on knits so far, does a great job. Great value for money. Compact, doesn't take up a lot of space. I didn't re-thread. I tied on spools of thread and pulled through, cutting thread at needles. Then thread needles. Very fast sewing, but I went slower to create straight lines. Maybe with experience i can sew faster speed. I ordered their hem foot so maybe that will help. Practice adjusting tension on scrap fabric 1st. I use Fray Check to secure stitches so they won't unravel, as I can't figure out how to pull thread through to tie off. LOVE pulling one thread--the lower looper thread-'to remove stitches! Very fast stitch removal, saves tons of time! Sews smooth, not very noisy. You have some noise as it's a machine, but not annoying to me. I watched several videos 1st before using the machine. Also joined support groups on FB which has been very helpful. I do own a serger so I wasn't intimidated by having 3 needles, and adjusting tension, differential feed and pressure. I am pushing 70 years old. If I can learn this machine so can you. Patience and persistence will help!I ordered the model 1500, but received model 1600. I don't think there are any differences. I'm guessing the 1600 is sold by non-Juki dealers???

Finishing a coverstitch in the round.

Liked everything about my Juki MCS-1500N. Threads easy. Sews beautifully. Changing threads is so easy. It's sturdy. No longer have to spend hours setting up my old coverstitch machine. Best investment I have made in a long time. Next purchase will be a Juki serger with a rolled hem.

Cover stitch machine

This machine is easy to thread. Much easier than my serger overlock. It makes nice clean stitches for stretchy materials. Very happy with this purchase.

Simply The Best

I compared three different cover stitch models. The less expensive models are frustrating and you will no doubt end up wanting this machine in the future. Wish they could pull the price down a bit though!
