As a professional seamstress / sewist(?) for a great many years and wanting to replace my machine with a good, simple mechanical one, I came across this Bernette and knew it was exactly what I'd been looking for. When it arrived, I immediately unboxed and tried it out. I wasn't disappointed!I love that this machine is like decent basic (ie non-computerised) sewing machines *used* to be, but are virtually impossible to find now. Compact but sturdy, and good design with no fiddly components which mean you end up spending more time faffing with the machine than actually sewing! Everything just does what it's supposed to do, and does it smoothly without drama.Bobbin-winding and threading are a breeze. This machine has upright (metal) spool holders which are so much more secure than the ubiquitous horizontal wobbly plastic ones. The automatic needle threader is the simplest I've ever come across and it just......works. Every time. I especially like that should you prefer to thread the needle manually at any time, the threader doesn't get in the way.The bobbin is front-loading and really couldn't be easier to do. It has all-metal bobbin housing and uses standard plastic bobbins. You do need to remove the extension box in order to access the bobbin, but it just pulls out and clicks back in which takes just a couple of seconds. The extension box also contains a useful storage compartment to keep all the accessories that come with this machine. Again, it's easy to access - just flip the lid up.It sews beautifully too and there's a good variety of stitches and functions. This machine comes with all the accessories you'll ever need and a clearly-illustrated, well-written handbook which includes a QR code to click on for instructions to make a soft cover for your new Bernette! An ideal first project to try it out.All in all, I highly recommend this great 'little sister' machine from Bernina - one of the most respected names in the business.
